Business Intelligence Analyst - Healthcare
Position Description
Responsible for the creation of a benchmarking dataset for use by the Internal Analytics team by identifying constituent data to be used as well as determining the appropriate percentages of each group¿s data portion in the dataset. Understands the data differences and can standardize the data into a conformed, standard set. Works with a statistician to identify the correct mix of information to include in the benchmark dataset.

Works with the technical team to establish a protocol to automatically extract readily available data in a standardized manner from a variety of Oracle databases. Guides technical team in creation of SFTP sites and data translation when acquiring data from non-readily available locations (e.g. constituents who are providing data on a time based schedule). Ascertains that data being compiled is correctly established. Confirms that data is delivered to the correct locations.

Works with internal and external clients on requests of diverse scope where analysis of data requires an evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined policies and practices in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Designs, Implements and Manages all aspects of the solution. Works with Internal Analytics manager in conjunction with business alliance to help with the analytical approaches, potential solutions, and the operational constraints of the client, and can aid in the implementation of solutions to achieve maximum value from the McKesson suite of products and services.

Identifies data to be used in conjunction with the solution being implemented and creating the specifications for the extraction of the strata to be used. Comprehends the content of the data in order to create the strata sub-dataset.

Responsible for creating resulting deliverables for clients (both internal and external) in a number of media, including, but not limited to, Excel, Crystal Reports, Business Objects Enterprise. Responsible for using data to answer multiple questions.

Responsible for the design of proprietary tools which are needed for the position. Works with the technical team to implement these tools. Trains others in the usage of these tools.

Has the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to rapidly changing schedules, priorities and workflows. Has excellent group facilitation and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals and groups.


Requirements

Minimum Requirements

Business Experience

4+ years in a similar position.

Experience in healthcare claims operations, with a focus on claims adjudication process improvement, claims auditing and claims auto-adjudication enhancement.

Additional Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of the full cycle of software development methodology.

High level knowledge of Excel.

Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization.

Expert presentation skills; comfortable with working with senior management level personnel both inside and outside the organization.

Knowledge of healthcare claims processing, managed care operations, and healthcare data attributes.

Knowledge of claims coding techniques, including CPT and ICD9 coding.

Significant experience in business analysis, requirements definition and deployment of business requirements to information systems.

Strong organizational skills, ability to think and react quick, efficient and adequate according to business requirements and various constraints.

High Level Knowledge of MS Office applications - Word, Excel, Visio

High Level Knowledge of Business Objects and Crystal Reports.

High Level Knowledge of data translation and standardization.

SQL knowledge a plus.

Education
Bachelors degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience.

Understanding of Healthcare data.
